battery/usb connection to google nexus 7 (2012) tablet

after having a great portable tablet for two years, over xmas there was a burning smell when charging, the charger was ‘melting’.
using my mother’s charger next, my tablet no longer is charging, cannot connect to a pc etc etc – i.e when the charger cable overheatred it has damaged/burned out the charging/connection port of the tablet and would need replacing.
is this something that can be fixed…and if so, is a new battery also be able to be fitted?
Finally (!) what is the price for the above and expected total time taken until returned to me.
Many thanks
