Can you repair a tablet which was purchased in the US?

I purchase a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 in the US in January 2013. It was working fine until last night when I dropped it on the ground. The screen is now flashing various colours. But the tablet is still connecting to the internet, receiving emails and it rings when somebody calls me on Skype. But I cannot communicate with it at all. I went to the Samsung store today and was told that they could not do anything at all due to the tablet being american.
